Stylus C82 & CX-5200 Print Head
There are two different print heads that the Stylus C82 and CX-5200 could have come from the factory with. These models may have a metal print head, or silicon head. When replacing this part, an identical head must be used.
For the C82:
There are a couple ways to determine which head the unit came with. The first, and easiest way, is to look at the product code on the back of the unit. If the product code ends with the letter "W" the machine has a silicon print head.
The second method is not as easy. The print head has an ID sticker on it. If that sticker begins with the letters C, D, E, or F, then the print head is silicon. All others are metal.
For the CX-5200:
There are two ways of identifying which head is in these units. The first, and easiest, is to note the product code on the back of the printer. If the code ends with the letter "W", the unit has the silicon type head. For example: C496*******W
The second method is not as easy. The print head has an ID sticker on it. If that sticker begins with the letters C, D, E, or F, then the print head is silicon. All others are metal.
It is our belief that these print heads should be replaced by an Epson Authorized Servicer. If you would like to find your closest Epson Authorized Servicer, call 800-442-2110 for a referral based on your zip code.
