This little connector is actually part of the ink cartridge bay assembly. It used to be available for less money as part of the needle assembly but that part has now been discontinued and is no longer available. This connector relays the ink cartridge information to the main board. If its pins get bent or broken, the printer may give an error related to the ink cartridge.

As you might imagine, replacing this part is extremely difficult and it comes with no instructions. You're on your own.
